Over the past few decades, Pinot Grigio has become nearly synonymous with “easy-drinking white wine”, and Pinot Noir has emerged as the red wine that can do no wrong. What makes the Pinot family of grapes so drinkable? Why is just about every wine producing country trying to grow Pinot? Explore these questions and more in our 2 hour Pinot to the People! class. Learn about Pinot Grigio and its alter ego, Pinot Gris. Try Pinot Noir in both its red and white forms and get to know cousin Pinot Blanc/Bianco. In the process, you will learn basic wine tasting skills and how to describe the different personalities of these wines. Appetizers and an assortment of cheeses will be served during class to introduce some of the fundamentals of pairing wine and food.

Jonathon Alsop is founder and executive director of the Boston Wine School and author of The Wine Lover’s Devotional: 365 Days of Knowledge, Advice & Lore for the Ardent Aficionado published by Quarry Books. Jonathon started life as a wine writer covering wine, food and travel in 1988. He is author of the long-running wine column In Vino Veritas by Jonathon Alsop as well as many articles for the Associated Press, Frequent Flyer, La Vie Claire, Beverage Business Magazine, Mobil Travel Guides, Fodor’s Travel Guides, Boston Globe, and many others.
