What Would Jesus Drink? Wines For Easter & Passover | Boston Wine School @ VINOvations

March 28 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$69.00

One of the great things about religion is that you can see in it whatever you want to see, and I see that Jesus was a foodie. And a wine lover too! Throughout the books of the Bible, there are relentless references to food and wine, from Noah’s vineyard on down. In the Jesus story, the first miracle was turning water into wine followed by the miracle of the loaves and fishes.

Imagine it: empowered to perform any miracle, Jesus chooses to get the message across with wine and food. At the last supper – a Passover seder requiring the drinking of four full glasses of wine per person during the ceremony – Jesus talks about bread and wine as body and blood. The examples go on and on, especially in the book of John.

As we approach Passover and Easter, we’re asking what would Jesus drink? We’ll try to answer that with a broad tasting of wines from the eastern Mediterranean as well as some ancient Italian wines that the Romans wrote about which are still being made today. We’ll put these wines together with bread, olives, and Egyptian cheese to make the perfect histroical match.
